Last Memorial Day weekend was a smashing success! We had an excellent turn out at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella and at the Los Banos Cemetery.

Special thanks to Mr. Ralph Bennett Director of the San Joaquin Veterans Cemetery for allowing us to participate in this years ceremony and for making this year’s ceremony in honor of the Buffalo Soldier. Also, a special thanks to Mr. Bennett for providing the award that was given to our WWII Buffalo Soldier Mr. John Collins of the 24th Cavalry Division.
We would also like to thank the following…
To our guest speaker Major General, (retired) Paul Monroe Jr., the former Adjutant General of the California National Guard for an excillent speech!
To Bill Pettis and his unit for being there with their impressive horses and setting up an encampment for the public to see it was impressive! As well as “Against the Crooked Sky” for providing additional horses for the encampment.
To our guest of honor Mr. John Collins of the 24th Cavalry Division WWII. Sir we salute you! You honored us with your prescence and we are proud of your service to our country. Your offer to assist us in spreading the word about the Buffalo Soldiers in the classroom is greatly appreciated.
We would also like to thank Mr. David Dickman the local Los Banos Historian that located and researched the life of a Spanish-American War Veteran, a Buffalo Soldier; buried in Los Banos and for your remarks at the service we had for him on Memorial Day.
