Did You Know? US Army Soldiers protected our National Parks until 1914. In 1903 Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th Cavalry, led by Captain Charles Young, were garrisoned at the Presidio of San Francisco. Among other duties, they were stewards of Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks. They rested in Los Banos on day 7 of their 16 day journey by horseback from the Presidio to Sequoia.

MLK ….Parade in Merced what a turn out of support from the community!. When the city of Merced put’s on a show they really don’t mess around. They were on the mark. My son & wife really enjoyed how organized the event was and the special guest appearance by Lt. Col. James Warren a living Tuskegee Airman still looking good. When you see living history it’s just so surreal. All the kids that made special performances on stage…very very nice. I’m so glad the Los Banos Buffalo Soldiers were able to participate and we look forward to next year

Kevin is right, what a day! it was really uplifting to see people of all cultures and backgrounds honoring Dr. King who helped make it possible for ALL Americans to be treated as equals.
The chance to meet and spend time with a Living Tuskegee Airman was just,..fantastic. Lt. Col. James Warren is a true American hero! among many medals he has the distinguished flying Cross with THREE clusters!! Shelton Johnson was there and as usual he gave an inspiring and uplifting speech.
It was truly an honor to participate in the celebration.
